Meet The Artist

Hello, my name is Wendy and I am The Art Of A Birdy.

Lets be honest, these are hard to write. You need to introduce yourself without being too wordy, or boring. You have to describe yourself in a way that is informative but not vain. So, I'm just going to be myself, and explain what I think is important to know about me as an artist. I'm sorry if I say "I" too much.

Why The art of a Birdy? Well, it was my nickname growing up. Being an avid Peter Pan fan as a child I was often called "Wendybird" as a call back to what TinkerBell tells the Lost Boys Wendy is when they first went to Neverland. As I got older this nickname got shortend to Birdy, and I love to make art. Go figure. Thus The Art of a Birdy.

I like to describe my art as "whimsical portraiture" I love to play into the fantastical and the weird. I've been really leaning more into the weird as of late with my recent collaborations with several indie horror authors.

The mediums I prefer to work in are oil paints and digital illustraions.
I used Clip Studio Paint on a Samsung Tab 7 or my Wacom art tablet  for my digital work.

My oil paintings are done on stretch canvas, generally. I also like to experiment with what materials I paint. Some of my favorite odd materials to use are old quartz countertop samples and glass. I feel like they really bring a new dimension to the pieces.
